Dr. Songsak Klamklang

Mr. Songsak Klamklang received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Process Engineering in 2007 from Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse in France and Ph.D. in Chemical Technology in 2008 from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Mr. Klamklang is the Manager – Technology Incubation at SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited (SCGC), where he specializes in battery materials, battery recycling, and materials for sustainable energy solutions.

 Research Topics

With a background in materials science and chemical engineering, he has been instrumental in developing advanced materials for lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) and green energy applications. His work includes ceramic-coated separators to enhance battery safety and performance, metal oxide composites for direct lithium extraction, and polyolefin-based encapsulation materials for solar cells. Additionally, he is pioneering barrier materials for flexible printed perovskite solar cells, aiming to improve their efficiency and durability. In the area of battery recycling, Mr. Klamklang is leading the development of acid leaching, solvent extraction, and sorbent-based processes for recovering critical metals like lithium, nickel, and cobalt, progressing from lab-scale research to industrial implementation. His goal is to establish a closed-loop recycling system that maximizes resource efficiency and minimizes environmental impact.

Beyond his contributions to materials and energy storage technologies, Mr. Klamklang has played a significant role in academic research and industrial applications. He has co-authored several scientific publications, including studies on electrochemical oxidation for wastewater treatment and high-emissivity coatings for industrial furnaces, which contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability in manufacturing.

At SCGC, he leads R&D initiatives that focus on enhancing battery safety, promoting circular economy models, and driving innovations in green energy solutions. His work aligns with SCGC’s long-term sustainability strategy, positioning the company as a key player in the battery value chain, recycling industry, and renewable energy sector.
