Dr. Dong-Wook Park is an Associate Professor at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Seoul, South Korea. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, in 2016. Dr. Park was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University, where he studied implantable neural electrodes and biosensors. Prior to pursuing his Ph.D., he gained industry experience as an AMOLED circuit design engineer at Samsung SDI and Samsung Display from 2007 to 2011. Dr. Park has received prestigious awards, including the Best Engineer Award from Samsung Display R&D Center in 2010 and the Excellent Teaching Award from the University of Seoul in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024. Dr. Park is also the CEO of a startup company, Trans Bio Lab Co., Ltd.
Research impacts
Dr. Park’s research interests focus on emerging biomedical devices and systems using novel materials and nanotechnology. His work centers on the fabrication and characterization of flexible microelectrode arrays using Parylene-C, a biocompatible polymer, enabling seamless integration with biological tissues. His research addresses critical challenges in neural interface technology, including improving signal quality, enhancing device reliability, and minimizing tissue damage. Additionally, he has done work on RRAM arrays for neuromorphic applications, and microfluidic integration with sensing devices. He has published >40 journal papers and >30 patents globally. His current h-index is 20 with i-10 index of 34 and total citations of >3,000 (Google Scholar).
